Abstract | The standards review cycle is in full swing with plans for four reviews and the development of one new document to be released in 2015. This includes a review of the standards on Aseptic Technique; Scrubbing, Gowning and Gloving; the Role of the Anaesthetic Nurse; and Loan Equipment; and development of a new position statement for Organ Procurement. The work on these documents is timely, given other changes happening in areas affecting perioperative nursing. Some of these changes include the newly released, revised AS/NZS 4187, current revision of PS08 by ANZCA, plans for revision of ACTA’s guidelines, and TGA approvals for alcohol-based hand rubs. Some of the many changes afoot are highlighted below. |
