Abstract | Bored PHC nodular piles (BPNP) are an eco-friendly choice for pile foundations in medium to high-rise buildings. Introduced in Vietnam in 2007 by Phan Vu Group, BPNP has extensive usage in over 100 projects, providing a valuable dataset. This study develops an accurate method for estimating BPNP’s axial load-bearing capacity using a soft computing approach based on Vietnam’s case histories. The comprehensive dataset includes static load tests and SPT N values from diverse projects in Vietnam. The XGBoost algorithm, a powerful and interpretable technique, is employed for accurate predictions. Partial dependence plots (PDPs) reveal insights into the physical behavior and load-bearing mechanism of composite piles. The integration of XGBoost and PDPs improves accuracy and interpretability, enhancing pile foundation understanding and design in Vietnam’s construction industry. |
