Abstract | This paper aims to develop a numerical model that can be used to analyse cantilever sheet pile walls. The numerical model developed consists of soil and structural elements and therefore it would provide valuable solutions, such as wall deflection, maximum bending moment, penetration depth, ground settlement profile, maximum bending moment, earth pressure distribution and soil failure indicators. The numerical results obtained will be verified with textbook solutions using limit equilibrium method and the advantages and disadvantages of the two methods discussed. Variables such as depth of embedment, maximum bending moment, wall deflection and ground settlement will be investigated in detailed. |
