Abstract

We are on the CUSP of a serious change. When people look back on this time, will they ask- what did you achieve on your watch? What will it be like to live with constant pervasive and ambient online networking and digital abundance? It's coming closer and closer. What is the future for learning in such a world? In the complex and messy education world of the early 21st Century, we have opportunities that no other educators have had before us. We should plan our interventions now to make a different in the future to create confident learners clear about what technology can do for them. Professor Gilly Salmon reflects on the trends and the potential of learning technologies in the future and points to the most productive pathways.
