Abstract | This report highlights key points in the literature, and key findings from two research projects investigating the efficacy of the eKindy program. The literature review draws attention to early learning contributing to positive outcomes later in life, parents as first teachers, and early childhood teachers forming partnerships with parents to further parents’ role as first teachers. Initiatives such as eKindy can, therefore, contribute significantly to early learning for young children, particularly those with limited access to a physical ‘pre-school’ through increasing access and equity. The review draws attention to virtual early childhood programs being brought into focus during COVID-19 lockdowns, suggesting the ongoing and need for flexibility in the provision of early childhood education. |
