| Abstract | TCP Vegas proposed a mechanism to improve TCP congestion control in the Internet. However, Vegas exhibits unfairness characteristics towards multiple TCP connections and does not perform well in a traffic asymmetric network. This paper introduces a simple modification to TCP Vegas, namely STT-Vegas, to improve the performance of TCP Vegas and present its performance for multiple TCP connections. The simulation studies have shown that STT-Vegas provides better overall performance than its counterparts (i.e. Vegas, Reno) on fairness, throughput and packet loss in various network traffic scenarios. |
