Abstract | The article examines the applicability of the male breadwinner model in Australia given the increasing influence of women in the workplace. During the early part of the 20th century, female workers were in the position of powerlessness, but this changed with the formation of women's organizations. During the 1960s, great strides were made against discrimination and a push for wage equality. Despite these initiatives, women still concentrate on part-time jobs and are still involved in family life. |
