Abstract | Polyurethane foam is a cellular thermoset plastic used in a wide range of applications, from soft cushions to rigid simulated wood materials. This versatility arises from the flexibility in chemical formulations for tailoring a wide range of cellular microstructure and physical properties. This chapter briefly discusses the fundamentals of formulation, the chemical and cellular morphologies, which determine the physical properties and the manufacturing techniques for rigid polyurethane foam (RPUF) materials. By providing brief guidelines for the formulation, processing, and troubleshooting, this chapter will act as a concise resource for research scholars and beginners in the field of polyurethane foam. |
