Abstract | This chapter will offer the reader an understanding of the meanings of health from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective and brief overview of the impact of European colonisation on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in relation to health outcomes. It will also provide an overview of the Australian health care system including Australian Indigenous health services, and will outline culturally appropriate care when delivering health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. |
