Abstract | Considering the adoption and the continuous proliferation of social media platforms, the human degradation through social media is becoming much more sinister than what it appears on the surface. The objective of this research is to investigate how the social media usage influences subjective well-being of individuals. To investigate this, we applied the Buddhist philosophical perspectives to assess human qualities through five defilements (Nyanaponika Thera 1993) and in addition, we investigate the moderating role of the number of friends and time spent on social media for life satisfaction. By analyzing data collected from 480 sample, the study makes interesting insights into dark side of social media for social well-being. |
