Abstract | This chapter explores the implications of Joe Kincheloe's call for educators and researchers to adopt a position of multilogicality, a position that would displace the unquestioned epistemic centring of Euro-epistemologies and ways of knowing. The chapter draws on alternative ways of knowing and seeing the world - in particular Australian Aboriginal ways - in looking at the current social problem of migration and border protection. The author argues that there is much to be gained - epistemologically, socially and culturally - from attempts to disrupt the privilege accorded to particular and sectional ways of knowing. |
