Abstract | Over the last ten years Canadian students have traveled across the date line to pursue their dreams of being a teacher. Universities across Australia and the world have embraced these students into their graduate preservice teacher training programs. This influx of students brought with it international fees and various issues and has been influenced by the rise and fall of the global economy. This book looks at the expectations and experiences of these students when they travel to an Australian regional university and explores the characteristics of these students as global learners. The book identifies a series of qualities that universities may need to address if they are to pursue the inclusion of international students. It is suggested that some international students have a highly developed global perspective. Those that don’t have a highly developed global perspective continue to apply their local perspective in a global environment. This increases stress and pressure on academic achievement. |
