Abstract | Technological breakthroughs have transformed the agriculture business and the way crops are cultivated and maintained. Precision agriculture, often known as digital farming, uses numerous technology instruments and approaches to increase crop production efficiency and yield. Big data, machine learning, the internet of things (IoT), predictive analytics, drones, robots, blockchain technology, mobile and web-based apps, and other digital technologies have enabled farmers to make better informed decisions and optimise their operations. Agriculture's digitisation aims not only to increase productivity but also to promote sustainability and conservation, tackling the issues of feeding a growing global population while conserving natural resources. This talk gives an outline of the fundamental components of digital farming and its applications. |
