Abstract | Natural disasters are compounding Australia’s housing insecurity crises. Governments are grappling for effective responses. Southern Queensland is one of three regions most affected. Shared community standards and values concerning housing are absent in the relevant research literature. Effective responses require new and transformative thinking and approaches. To exchange ideas and capture perspectives, our multi-disciplinary research team will invite third sector representatives supporting people experiencing housing insecurity to roundtables in three communities – Toowoomba, Ipswich and Stanthorpe. The roundtables will lead to an open access report on the findings. Then, ultimately, the findings will inform government policy, public debate and legislative reforms. |
