Abstract | This study presents a new procedure to control the depth of anaesthesia by adjusting the amount of medication given to the patient to improve the recovery from anaesthesia. The procedure is based on model based predictive control technique, and the method is validated using measured clinical signals of BIS. Comparing to PID and internal model control, the proposed new method improves the performance of the closed-loop system in reference tracking, overall stability and uncertainties of the patient models and parameters. |
