Abstract | This article considers proposed reforms to the rules of private international law, contained in a January 2009 report of the Manitoba Law Reform Commission. The reforms deal with three main areas: choice of law in tort, the distinction between substance and procedure, and rules of jurisdiction. The paper generally supports the position taken by the Commission, and compares the proposals with the laws in each of these areas in other jurisdictions. |
