Abstract | This article considers existing legal limits on the confidentiality of journalists' sources. It suggests that broader legal protection should be given to the confidentiality of sources, in order that journalists can perform their role in a democratic form of government. If journalists are forced to reveal their sources, this is likely to inhibit the free flow of information that is a hallmark of a democratic system of government. |
