Abstract | The purpose of this paper is twofold. Firstly it gathers together sources of environmental information for the Australian Resources and Environmental Assessment (AREA) Modelling Project. Secondly, the paper is part of our contribution to the 7th Global Modelling Conference conducted by the International Institute of Applied System Analysis (IIASA) in October 1979 to look at the question of how environmental aspects can be incorporated into global modelling work. The paper aims to bring to the attention of research workers participating in the conference, the potential usefulness and applicability of the International Referral System (INFOTERRA, formerly IRS) in the fields of environmental modelling and studies, by providing a list of names and addresses of organisations with expertise in this field. |
