Abstract | One of the key issues today with carrying across the message of the effects of ultraviolet radiation and its impact on people today, is providing a simple and effective means that is easy to understand for the younger generation and in turn the general public. There is a simple and easy to present experiment to explain this effect. The product is easy and safe to use, acts quickly for a fast effective presentation (being visible after minimal time and little processing) and can be used for very young children to explain what occurs when UV radiation is present around them. The product is a commercially available paper and is relatively cheap. The experiment itself is not new, and has been commonly presented in Chemistry experiments at University level, and more commonly used by artists and photographers. This presentation will detail how simple the experiment really is, and provide some new physical analysis on the product itself, which up until now has never been explored. |
