Abstract | Technology has revolutionized the modern workplace, enabling remote work, streamlined communication, and collaboration. However, this disruption in the hospitality industry has also led to challenges in employees’ professional and personal lives. To manage this, organizations are embracing technological innovations to enhance employee wellness programs. This chapter explores how cutting-edge technologies like AI-powered chatbots, virtual assistants, wearable devices, gamification, virtual/augmented reality, and digital peer support networks are transforming employee assistance and well-being initiatives. It provides insights into technology-driven wellness solutions implemented by leading hospitality companies such as Marriott, Hyatt, Accor, and Royal Caribbean. The chapter highlights how these interventions have empowered employees through real-time support, stress management, meditation, ergonomics, fitness tracking, and fostering a positive work culture. By leveraging technology to prioritize employee well-being, the hospitality sector can drive higher productivity, exceptional guest experiences, and create a future-ready workforce. The chapter offers guidance, best practices, recommendations, and cautions for integrating transformative technologies into robust employee wellness programs within the hospitality domain. The chapter speaks about VR-guided mediation sessions and other stress-relieving activities, AR for ergonomics and safety, and digital platforms for peer support networks, which are all being used by the next-generation hospitality industry to create a positive work culture and enhanced employee satisfaction for higher productivity and exceptional guest experience. As hotel operators emphasize the fitness facilities for guests, so have they understood and focused on offering pathways for their employees’ wellness. Some examples are TakeCare staff wellness programmes by Marriott International, Hyatt’s Colleague Wellbeing Council, Lifeworks Total Wellbeing app by Accor, and Royal Caribbean’s Wellness Works programme. |
