Abstract | In education, as in life, we need fiction, even and especially horror fiction, to shine light into the darker corners of our social and cultural lives. We need horror to remind us of all the repressed realities and the power imbalances we must confront if we want to deal with the persistent injustices of our educational institutions. Horror fictions can also show us how those who do not fit in with the dominant culture, those who are Othered, can be marked out as monstruous (and the horrible consequences of such Othering). |
