| Abstract | This chapter is a conversation between a doctoral candidate (Sherilyn) and her supervisor (Robyn) about the risky nature of doing research in rural locations, particularly when the researcher is a member of the community involved in the research. Through a discussion of the synergies between their doctoral studies – Sherilyn's completed at the end of 2012 (Lennon, 2012) and Robyn's completed in 2005 (Henderson, 2005) – the conversation highlights the risky business of trying to trouble taken-for-granted social practices. Data from the two doctoral studies are used to illustrate the points that are discussed. |
