Biography
Pauline teaches dispute management and international humanitarian law. Pauline was a legal practitioner in South Australia working in general practice, Parliamentary Counsel, the Crown Solicitors Office, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution. She was a member of the International Law Association Committee on Non-State Actors. She has published many journal articles, chapters and six books including Civil-Military 'Legal' Relations: Where to from Here? (Brill/Nijhoff, 2018) (Giueseppe Caforio ERGOMAS Book Award 2019); Collins, Demeter, and Douglas Dispute Management (Cambridge University Press, 2021) and Collins, and Arcala Hall (eds) Military Operation and Engagement in the Domestic Jurisdiction: Comparative Call-out Laws (Brill Nijhoff, 2022). Her work has been cited in the Canadian Supreme Court R v Stillman, 2019 SCC 40 in the joint judgment of Karakatsanis and Rowe JJ – at [149], [187] and the Australian High Court Private R v Cowen [2020] HCA 31, Edelman J [196]. Her recent research is with veterans in prison funded by the Department of Veteran Affairs through Open Door Flinders University. Pauline is the co-general editor of the Australasian Dispute Resolution Journal and a NMAS qualified mediator and GAICD.
