Abstract | As macadamia nuts are harvested, there is a requirement to monitor the yield. In one case, the individual yield of each tree must be determined and it is more appropriate to use counting rather than weighing. It is proposed to use machine vision to count the nuts as they are gathered. A software interface enables a digital 'webcam' style of camera to be used, an OCX control having been designed to provide image data at an adequate speed for analysis. Alternative measuring techniques are reviewed for routine harvesting. |
