Abstract | With the widespread use of polymers in daily life, their flammability issue has attracted more and more attention. In this regard, numerous studies have been conducted to address the flammability issue of polymers, and many efforts have been devoted to flame retardant (FR) polymer nanocomposites, due to their superior flame retardancy and mechanical properties. In this chapter, the common zero-dimensional (0D), one-dimensional (1D), and two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials applied to FR polymer nanocomposites are reviewed in detail, and their influences on the FR and other properties of the nanocomposites as well as their disadvantages are also discussed. In addition, the FR mechanisms of polymer nanocomposites are reported comprehensively. |
