Abstract | [Abstract]: University teaching in the 21st century, in addition to teaching and learning, includes providing leadership skills such as time management, training, and the ability to use resources effectively and efficiently. Some of these objectives can be accomplished through self-service teaching. With this perspective, we developed a postgraduate level course at USQ having fully automated delivery and assessment systems with provision for interaction for the learner at multiple levels. The role of the trainer was restricted to moderation with limited involvement. This course has facilitated learners’ understanding of the role of technology involving responsibilities on the part of the learner in addition to the actual learning of course content. In this paper we share our experience and present some findings on technology-based teaching. We also outline some of the issues associated with this dynamic environment for teaching and learning. |
