Abstract | Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) was introduced in Australia during the 1990s. Since this time a constant theme within the Higher Education sector is found in RPL literature. It echoes the challenges surrounding the transparency, consistency, integrity and robustness in the assessment of Formal, Informal and Non-formal learning. Similarly, portfolios have long been utilised in higher education and optimised to varying degrees. Research identifies the long-term advantages and benefits for graduates using a portfolio in their higher education studies and beyond. This paper describes the blending of two projects: an innovative portfolio platform and an RPL project. Both initiatives share mutual goals yet with different foci and are currently in progress in a regional higher education setting. |
