Abstract | The QALSBI (Queensland Ageing and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Sistergirl and Brotherboy Issues) working group sought to understand experiences and concerns of LGBT Sistergirl and Brotherboy peoples related to ageing and care services in Queensland. This project aimed to explore: 1) the experiences of older LGBT Sistergirl and Brotherboy peoples when seeking ageing and care services and support; and 2) concerns held by people in the LGBT Sistergirl and Brotherboy communities regarding the provision of ageing and care services to older members of the community. The Building a Better Picture of LGBT Sistergirl and Brotherboy Ageing and Caring in Queensland survey was distributed to the LGBT Sistergirl and Brotherboy communities between July 2021 and August 2022. The results of this survey, including a case study focusing primarily on the experiences of persons living with HIV, are described within this report. |
