Abstract | Chapter Four reviews research findings related to diversity and inclusion at work, emerging issues that reflect the status of minority groups, and the challenges thus faced by both minority-group employees and organizations. Notably, inequality in the workplace was highlighted by the COVID pandemic insofar as social disadvantage and organizational inequalities are often reciprocal in their effects. Following Gomez and Bernet's (2019) assessment of 18 meta-analyses designed to tease out (1) the impact of diversity and inclusion on the organization's performance and sustainability, and (2) new and better ways to reduce inequity and promote diversity in its broadest conceptualization, this chapter incorporates the author's summary of outcomes and recommended strategies based on no less than 359 studies mostly incorporated in a highly selected number of robust systematic reviews and meta-analyses. For the most part, and notwithstanding barriers to reducing stereotyping and discrimination, interventions to improve diversity and inclusion in the workplace led to favorable outcomes. |
