Abstract	This study uses the deskspaces of project managers as a sign to their ‘lived experience’ of project managing. The paper contributes to the ‘lived experience’ project literature and adopts a non-traditional research method (using photography and focus-group discussions). The participants’ deskspaces indicate that the experience of project managing incudes an ongoing struggle to gather information on the unfolding situation they need to manage – all the while being watched. The study aligns with the conference and stream themes as it relates the project manager’s environment (physical space) to the experience of project managing.
