Abstract | The application of technology-enhanced learning and the global Internet has stimulated some transformation of higher education in most Australian institutions. This change, however, is not evenly spread across the sector and tends toward pockets of innovation rather than widespread transformation. This chapter explores how the profile of higher education in Australia has changed to accommodate new influences and pressures and documents Australian government policies and initiatives, which provide the context for the implementation of technology-enhanced learning and teaching.
