Biography
Petrea Redmond is a Professor of Digital Pedagogies in the School of Education at the University of Southern Queensland. Her research is situated in interrelated fields of educational technology, including: Online engagement; Online presence; Teaching presence; Using technology to keep seriously ill learners connected to school; Cyberbullying; Critical thinking; Mobile learning; Online collaboration; Online communities of practice; Gender and STEM; ICT integration (P – 12, higher education & vocational education); professional development; Online mentoring; eLearning; Blended learning and teaching; Online learning and teaching; Teaching and learning in higher education; Teacher Education; Pre-service teacher training and development; Makerspaces; TPACK; and Community of Inquiry. She has edited several international refereed books and co-authored many journal articles and conference papers. Petrea has received 6 outstanding conference paper awards at international conferences and faculty, university and national awards for research and teaching. Petrea was also a lead editor and associate editor for the Australasian Journal of Educational Technology (AJET). She is currently the Chair, Consultative Council for the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE), is the Education Lead for the Sustainable Industry Manufacturing Planning for Long-term Ecosystems (SIMPLE) Hub, and is on the Executive committee for the Australasian Society for Computers in Learning in Tertiary Education (ASCILITE).
