| Abstract | Identifying support and preparation for students not ready for university studies is difficult because of the variety of types of courses offered, the plethora of terminology used, where the responsibility for these lies and constant change. This paper attempts to provide an overview of the current enabling and bridging courses provided for students in the context of numeracy, mathematics and statistics for Australian students wanting to enter, or beginning, university studies in Australia. We illustrate the variety in enabling and bridging courses, give some characteristics of the courses offered, and comment on change and the difficulty of finding out exactly what universities offer. |
