Abstract | This article discusses the role of Art Education Australia and its work as a founding member of the National Advocates for Arts Education in providing a strong and united voice representing the five arts forms in the Australian Curriculum at the government level. Current pressures and challenges facing arts education are also explored including the current drift towards an instrumentalist education agenda and the subsequent impact of this when the OECD measures students' innovation and creativity through the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2021. |
