Abstract | William Eicholtz is one of Australia’s leading figurative sculptors. His work is framed by his use of the imagery of Classical marble sculpture and his fascination with baroque art. He acknowledges the figure's place in the history of art while simultaneously translating it into a language infused with humour and theatricality. Eicholtz has taken on a range of private and public commissions, notably the Lady of Justice (Melbourne, 2002), The Gippsland Immigration Wall of Recognition (Gippsland, 2006), Towner’s Call (Blackall, 2009), and Courage (Melbourne, 2014). |
