Abstract | The Player Designed—Coach Supported Style is the first of three styles which require the player, for the first time, to create subject matter. The past styles have required them to use the cognitive process of either memory or discovery. The Player-Designed—Coach Supported style requires ‘learners to think, plan, and design in a variety of episodes representing an array of different teaching—learning styles’. If the players have not experienced the range of styles, and thus developed their skills to make decisions about their learning, then they will have very little ability to draw on knowledge of decision-making concerning teaching styles and learning needs. Player Designed—Coach Supported coaching episodes are arguably examples of autonomous supportive environments, derived from the amount of player self-determination. Player designed—Coach Supported Style could be applied to cricket players who may be having problems with a particular shot in the sense that they are consistently getting dismissed whilst playing it. |
