Abstract | In this final chapter, we depart to some extent from the regular practice of providing a summary of the volume’s content and some concluding thoughts. Instead, in this chapter, we work toward a further conceptualization of the ecology for learning we discussed in the Introduction to the volume. Thus, this chapter outlines the idea of an Interconnected University Ecology for what we call a hypercomplex world. The image of this ecology is provided toward the end of the chapter. A related concept outlined is the Four-Helix Interconnected University Model, which shows four different overlapping spheres of interaction that relate to the overall ecology. Sense-making is presented as a way to help this conceptualization. In this way, the chapter charts a path into the future for the ideas presented in this volume. |
